Yves Rivaud

Head of School & Founder

Before becoming Head of School at EINY, he was Headmaster of the Lyceum Kennedy in New York for six years, and held various positions, including Director, at the French American School of Puget Sound in Seattle. He was also Director of the French and After-School programs at the French American International School in San Francisco.

Yves’ many years of experience in bilingual education and his appreciation for new and innovative teaching methods were recognized by the French Ministry of Education in September 2008. In recognition of his 21 years of service in French-American schools, he was honored with the distinction of Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques.

Daphne Rose-Jevremov

Anthony Bernier

She was recently promoted to the position of Director of Outreach, and brings her energy and enthusiasm to extending EINY’s outreach activities to a wide range of cultural institutions across the city and beyond. Emmanuelle Garcia-Guillén

French Nursery & Pre-K Teacher

Originally from Toulouse, France, Emmanuelle “Manu” holds three Bachelor degrees in Psychology, Spanish, and Science of education, and she is currently completing a Master in Psychoanalysis.


Certified as a teacher by the French Ministry of Education since 2001, she taught for several years in a mixed-grade classroom in a rural French commune, before opting for a New York Adventure in 2010. She taught for four years at the International School of Brooklyn before joining EINY in 2015. Manu’s teaching style draws on her first career as a theater teacher, as well as on an alternative pedagogical approach called “Pédagogie Institutionnelle” that incorporate social learning theory. Manu is also a certified meditation teacher in the Kwan Um school of Zen.

Virginie Martin Muggeo

French Pre-K Teacher and Pre-Elementary Pedagogical Coordinator

…Virginie has been teaching in New York in the French-American system since 2002 and she has been at EINY since its opening. She is also co-coordinator of the French and American programs for the pre-elementary section.

Passionate about bilingualism, Virginie loves teaching in a classroom where the teachers speak different languages but work in close collaboration. Her studies in France and the U.S. and her professional experience with American colleagues have enabled her to greatly diversify her teaching methods throughout the years. Although speaking only in French in the classroom, she uses strategies borrowed from both systems and specifically tailored to EINY’s bilingual structure.

Samia Djaafar

French Kindergarten Teacher and Pre-Elementary Pedagogical Coordinator

She takes great pleasure in hearing 5-year-old children switching seamlessly between multiple languages. In his classroom, Julien ensures his students’ success by making the most of his musical experience, his passion for digital tools, and his interest in innovative teaching methods.

She spent a year working in France as an au pair and as an assistant teacher at a bilingual preschool. Amanda attributes her interest in a bilingual school environment to this experience, where she saw the incredible dynamic between teachers and students in a dual-language environment.

Prior to teaching, Evelyn held various positions in marketing, sales, and product management in international companies in the financial information service industry. With a passion for history and geography, she integrates all areas of the ELA curriculum while employing a project-based learning approach to teaching social studies.

Before coming to New York, she taught ESL to Kindergarten and Middle School students in Xiamen, China for three years, and taught ESL in a middle school in Berlin, Germany for one year. Christine enjoys learning about languages: She speaks, reads and writes English, German and Hungarian fluently. Also, she has a basic knowledge of French, Spanish and Mandarin.

… She taught French as a Foreign Language in various institutes and universities in Paris, New York, Chicago and New Orleans. For the past 8 years, she has helped EINY children develop their knowledge of French, both oral and written. To do this, she works with small groups of children and adapts her teaching according to the needs of each one.

Megan earned a Bachelor degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in School Counseling holds both New York and Virginia State School Counselor Certifications and is earning her licensure in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Megan has spent time in France and enjoys the French culture. “It is wonderful to be part of a school that is committed to French-American education in NYC. Bernadette Robine

Pre-K & Kindergarten French as a Second Language Teacher

Originally from Paris, France, Bernadette is a primary school teacher certified from France where she taught for three years. She moved to NY with her family nine years ago and taught in several bilingual schools …


… including the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), the International School of Brooklyn and most recently the French American School of NY. She also worked as a French middle school teacher and advisor at Trevor Day School in New York City. Throughout these experiences, Bernadette developed her ability to teach French as a Second Language (FLE).
In 2012, she received a Blackboard Award for excellence in teaching in the Foreign Language Category.
A few years ago, her two children attended EINY before their move to Westchester County. She is now thrilled to be back in the EINY community.
